there is a place i go on the easy side of town
where you can get a winner if you lay the money down
that's where i met a girl who gave me eyes to see
once held her in arms but that was in my dream
she said
"why don't we tell each other's future?
why don't we guess each other's age?
we shout over the loud music.
"i see a figure 28!"
there was a man i knew lived out by fire lake
he got me goin with his stories of the olden days
and when i told him that i heard that one before
he'd just laugh and stamp his feet upon the floor
he said
"why don't you get yourself together?
my life runs deeper than this lake
if you can't handle stormy weather
you'll never live past 28"
